Great question. Wicca is a very specific spiritual belief and one sect of paganism. Kind of like in Christianity how there is Catholicism, Protestantism etc… They are all Christians but not all Christians are Catholic.
Try asking him more about his specific beliefs as they may be something you can look up or they may not as it may be a personal path like mine and my fiance’s. Some questions that might start you off are things like: Is he a solitary practitioner or does he belong to a group? Does he follow a pantheon and if so which one? Is there a branch of paganism or a culture that he connects to most?
As fo the pentegram. It is a five pointed star, there is also a pentacle which is the five pointed star within a circle. Each of the points stand for each of the elements being Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit. They are symbols of protection, the elements and of Paganism itself. I hope this was helpful.
